Weekend in Fort Collins, Colorado
Posted on June 21 2012 in climbing
A couple of weeks ago, Brian and I visited family and a chiropractor/magician in the Boulder area. While there, we decided to take the opportunity to visit Fort Collins. We found a place to stay through Airbnb.com, and were blown away by the warmth and general awesomeness of our hosts, Dave and Antonette.
She made kale taste good!

Photos taken with an iTouch. The Horsetooth bouldering photo was taken by Brian. I fell about five seconds after he took it.
Highlights of our weekend in Fort Collins:
Dinner at a tiny, but fantastic, Ethiopian restaurant, Ras Ka, then used book shopping at Old Firehouse Books.
Brunch with our Airbnb hosts: french toast, roasted potatoes, sausage, cantaloupe, and coffee. Best. Hosts. Ever.
Perusing the chunks of energy flavors at the Fort Collins Food Co-op, by far the largest selection I've ever seen. The Goji berry with cacao was my favorite. Yum.
Bouldering in the sun at Horsetooth Reservoir on the Rotary Park boulders, followed by a quick dip in the reservoir, then more bouldering. The area is well-known among climbers, as it's where John Gill climbed in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Thanks to my dad, we were aware of the solar eclipse during our visit and, lucky for us, our hosts invited us to their eclipse-viewing party. We used their makeshift pinhole projector to watch the moon cover the sun... until clouds got in the way.
PS: I started this post nearly a month ago, but put it on hold while I (worked like a mad woman) helped make some exciting changes to Order's Up App. Check it out if you get a chance!
